Tsunami --- 2/27/10

Quite scary at first, but we're all right and the tsunami was much smaller than originally predicted.

Here are a few photos of our day:

Ashton getting ready to eat his oatmeal.

We like POI!!!

As you can see from the video, Ashton didn't know what to think of poi (I mixed in with a ton of BM to get it really thin). Besides cereals, poi and avocado are the other solids he has finished what I've prepared in his bowl.

Check it out:

6 Month Well Baby Check-Up!

All the nurses just love Ashton. I'm not sure if it's the blond hair and blue eyes or those two pearly whites shinning at them or the rolls on his legs but he gets so much attention;-)
Ashton is already a show off in more ways that one. As I am discussing that Ashton cannot really lift himself...Ashton shows off..yeah..lifts himself right up like he does it all the time and it's his favorite position?!? I've never seen him do that!
Ashton is doing well in all areas. Dr. B said I can feed Ashton solids three times a day (I have only been feeding him solids once a day). Dr. B also put Ashton on fluoride drops once a day since Hawaii dose not contain any fluoride in the local tap water.

Overall it was a great well baby visit. I really like Dr. B. He spend about an hour with us going over all my questions, asking me questions and giving me advise. Oh and the Dr. is guessing based on his stats (HC) that Ashton will most likely be taller than the 5'10" originally though.....looking at 6 feet 1 inch baby!! Wahoo.....a mom can dream right?

Ashton's stats

6 month check up
Weight - 20 lbs 4 oz (86%)
Height - 29" (98%)
HC - 17.99" (91%)

4 month check up
Weight - 18 lbs 1.6 oz(95%)
Height - 27.25" (98%)
HC - 17.52" (95%)

2 month check up
Wight - 15 lbs 2 oz (98%)
Height - 26" (100%)
HC - 16.5" (88%)

2 week check up
Weight - 9 lbs 8.2 oz
Height - 23"
HC - 14.25"

4 day old check up
Weight - 7lbs 15.5 oz (47%)
Height - 21" (98%)
HC - 14.65"(72%)

Birth
Weight - 8.5lbs
Height - 21"
HC -?

Yummy...oatmeal!!

He loves oatmeal...well at least now he does. I took this video about 4 days ago.

We love to jump!

I've been meaning to post this for quite a while...he loves his jumparoo!

Rubber Ducky!

Since Ashton is sitting up on his own, he is getting a little "wild" in his current whale bath tub (trying to look over the side and almost tipping out the side). I know I could easily move the tub from the sink to the bath tub, but we were bored on Sunday, so we headed over to Wal-Mart to check out what they had.
I ended up getting him this:

And he LOVES it!! I think it's okay...I just don't like our tub situation (sliding doors that are so in the way when you are trying to bath a baby).

Here is a quick video of him enjoying his duck tub.

Dinner with Auntie Phyllis and Uncle Bob & John

Auntie Phyllis and Uncle Bob invited us to dinner this evening. It is always so nice to see them; they treat us like their own kids:-) And they just LOVE Ashton to dealth. Auntie Phyllis is always getting him the coolest gifts (hello.....baby Uggs for x-mas) and today she got him the cutest aloha shirt (his first one).

We miss you already!!! We'll see you in May!

Here are a few photos from dinner

Auntie Kristen and Uncle Tom's Engagement Party

Ashton had a great time at the party!! Everyone was kissing, hugging and showing him all the attention he could ever want! Here are a few photos (thank you Auntie Mary Kate!)

Cheesy Family!

6 MONTHS!!

Where in the world has the time gone?! It seems like yesterday I was waddling around waiting to find out if we would have a boy or girl. Now I have THE.BEST.LITTLE.MAN!! Ashton is absolutely the apple of my eye and I can not imagine my life without him.

Ashton is now able to do/does the following:
-Bite my chin with 2 teeth (well they are not fully grown in yet)..aka kisses mamma
-Grabs an object and can switch hands with it (I think he's gonna be a lefty, but they say you won't know for sure until 2 -3 years in age).
-Sit unassisted for the most part
-He will start crying when someone else is holding him and he sees me (mamma boy)
-"talking" up a storm
-still is NOT sleeping though the night. It has actually gotten worse (blaming teeth)
-has his first friend at day care (Zek)
-Grabs every and anything he can get his hands on
-"bucks" or tries to get out of his car seat, stroller and anyone who is holding him
-slowly eating solids (we are only doing one tablespoon a day so far for the past few weeks...I really wanted to wait until 6 months) and boy is he ever ready!!
-hates tummy time...and I mean to the point that if he rolls onto his tummy..he screams like he is in pain!
-I don't think the kid will ever crawl...ever!
-He can sort of scoot when he wants to
-Ashton still sleeps in bed with me and daddy (and I love every minute of it..especially since I started back to work and feel like I never see him)
-Turns toward sounds and voices
-still can really only roll from back to belly (has been that way since month 4)

Here are a few photos...he was totally not in the mood for photos!

Look who's sitting in the high chair!!

Sweet Potato

Yum..Ashton seemed to enjoy these much more than the butternut squash.

Here's a quick video

And here are a few photos

Happy Valentine's Day!

Yesterday was Ashton's first Valentine's Day as well as his 6 month b-day!

We went to the Ihiliani for breakfast (my favorite) then we had a quite afternoon. Ashton took a 3 hour nap...I tried to wake him, but he kept falling back asleep. I think he had too much fun the evening before at Auntie Kristin and Uncle Tom's engagement party. He stole the show. I will post more on the party later.

For now, here are a few photos of my Valentine:-)

and onto Butternut Squash

Yeah, he didn't love it as much as the others. He does have a slight cold so that could be the reason he was not as interested as he has been. I'll try again tomorrow to see if he likes butternut squash any better.

This was so easy to make!! I love that I am feeding Ashton organic homemade baby food:-)

Avocado was next in line..

and Ashton seemed to really enjoy it.
Here is a video clip (sorry for the bright background)

Super Bowl XLIV

It is a sad day in the Winter house! The Colts lost to the Saint's:-(

Here are a few pictures of us enoying the first half of the game:

Look at the big boy!!

Do I see a pearly white shinning though?!

I sure felt it to say the least! Ashton has started to cut his first tooth; the bottom left one. I am guessing this is why he has been sleeping as if he was 2 weeks old again...up every 1.5 -2 hours!! I felt him bite down with it yesterday morning. Let's hope he takes it easy on me since I'd really love to make my goal of nursing him for a year.

I will be sure to post a photo once he let's me see it. He only lets me feel it for now.

Rice Cereal is YUMMY!!

I felt that it was time for Ashton to start solids, so on Friday Ashton had his first taste.

Ashton has been reaching for my plate, fork and drinks lately so I felt comfortable offering him solids. And since Ashton has not been the best sleeper lately, I felt he was not 100% satisfied. I'm sad to say but Ashton starting solids has NOT made him sleep any better than prior:-(

He absolutely loved every single bite!! As soon as I offered the first bite, he was all over it. Ashton was reaching for the spoon, the bowl and me as if saying, "give me more mamma!!"

Here is a photo of Ashton enjoying his first meal.
