We had a wonderful Christmas. Santa came to see the kids and Ashton was so surprised to see that Santa had stopped at our home. He had a great time opening all is gifts...so much at many of them were not opened until the day after Christmas. It was so much fun to see Christmas though Ashton. I can't wait until these next few years!
Here are our photos of Christmas.
Christmas Eve. See Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop in the background on the computer? We were skyping while Ashton was opening their gifts.
Christmas Morning
There are several gifts missing during this photo session. Ashton recieved so many gifts along with tons of gift cards.

A few weeks with Mommy
Since I was on maternity leave and Tutu was taking some time off, I got to spend two weeks with both boys! Boy were we busy! I am not much on staying home and combine that with a two year old running circles around me while I have Christian attached to me (literally), I had to come up with some fun, creative things for us to do.
We had a play date with a few of my friends (Lori, her daughter, Brook and Melissa and her son, Adrian). We met at the park so the kids could burn some energy and then we headed to Chili's for lunch. The kids had a blast and I just love the conversations with these fun ladies.
A few times we went to meet with Adam to have lunch and for me to get Ashton to sleep. He falls asleep so easily in car rides as opposed to being at home. Made my life, much easier!
We had a picnic one day.
Ashton had fun tormenting me by messing up the house more times than I dare to count. Why did I think I could clean the house with a toddler running behind me pulling out what I put back!?
We went shopping more times than I dare to count (nor to look at my credit card statement).
We watched too much t.v. and ate too much junk food!
We had a craft day with Riis and her mommy, Kristin.
I got a taste of being a stay at home mom with two kids and boy was it harder than I thought it would be. I have to give stay at home mom's more credit. I'd have to say that it was just as hard as being a full time working mommy. I am thinking though I may want to be one:)
Here are some photos of our fun days! Ashton just LOVES Christan. Ashton always holds Christian's hand while we are in the car. So sweet!

Ashton Fun Facts
I have been meaning to put together a list of things Ashton says or does for quite some time now. He has been working with this speech therapist and she has given me some great tips to get Ashton mouth moving! In case I didn't mention this before, it seems his facial muscles are quite weak, thus the issues we are running into with him speaking. We have all sorts of fun games to play and yummy foods to eat that will help strength them.
Let's hope I can remember it all...I may have to come back and edit this list quite often.
Words that I find quite cute:
~Dump Truck (dup gur)- He has a really hard time with the 'tr' of words. If he says, "gur" to you and you don't get it, watch out..he is so mad that you don't know what he is saying.
~my bubba and my baby - his nicknames for Christian
~oh mommy, oh mommy -- uses this when he sees something he wants (i.e. a dump truck toy at the store).
~BYE, BYE - he says this sooo loud to anyone that we are leaving. It is so funny and sweet.
Funny stuff and not so funny:
~wipes my kisses away (sad face). He got this from me. Adam loves to kiss me after he is all sweaty and I always (kidding) say, "eww" and wipe away his kiss - Ashton now does this:(
~runs away from me and I can't stand it. I know it's normal toddler behaviour but I am going to have a heart attack one of these days. I love how he always turns around and smiles and laughs while he is running.
~ says, "no mommy" while waiving his finger back and forth at me
~ "Bubba eat" - he knows that when Christan starts to cry, it's time for him to eat. Funny how quickly kids catch on to these types of things.
~Holds Christians hand in the car whenever he does start to cry. I love to look in the rear view to see this.

Picture time with Santa!
Let's just say Ashton did much better this year when he met Santa and Christian could have cared less. Ashton was a bit hesitant at first but knew that if he wanted a new truck from Christmas that he would need to tell Santa! Ashton still had the arms out wanting me to take him away from the white bearded man, but it was nothing like last year.

Happy Thanksgiving!
I am so thankful for my two healthy, beautiful children. An amazing, super helpful husband who makes parenting much easier and who treats me like a queen everyday. And of course my family & friends not only on the east coast, but my Hawaii Ohana as well. Life is good!
We spent Thanksgiving home just relaxing. Adam had to work until about noon so I just enjoyed the morning with the boys. Ashton is batteling a cold so he wasn't feeling like his self. The Willows provided our Thanksgiving dinner so I only had to make dessert...well I didn't have to:)

Christian's 1st UH Game....
Adam's boss had extra tickets to the game and we figured we would try it out with both kids. Christian was great! He was a little startled from the band and all the lights but he was a trooper and just hung out in my lap. Ashton was a great boy too! He sat in his seat, ate pizza, flirted with Riis and cheered on the Warriors.
Happy 4th Anniversary!
Adam and I celebrated our 4th Wedding Anniversary with both our boys at Roy's at Ko'olina. Ashton was great and Christian was a mama's boy the whole time.
These past four years has brought so much joy and I couldn't be happier! I always knew that Adam was an amazing man and treated me like a queen, but since having our boys, he has surprised me with being an AMAZING father as well. My boys sure are lucky to have Adam as their Daddy!

Waterpark fun!
We finally caved in and purchased the annual water pass to Wet N Wild and what a great invesement!! We went Saturday and Sunday! Christian is such a cruise baby that he just hangs out with Mommy/Daddy and watches all the kids. The water park has plenty of shade which makes it much easier than going to the beach with him. Ashton takes turns playing with us and just has a ton of fun playing in the water and going down the water slids with us. I think he likes hanging with me on the water slides since we go much faster (I still have yet to master Adam's technique of slowing down) than he does with Adam.

The fun never ends!
Fun with Mom-Mom and Daddy
We've been having a great time with Mom-Mom here. We went to the North Shore to get some shave ice, went to the swap meet to play tourist, went to lunch at Buca. Daddy and Ashton had fun at the Warrior's football game and had some good times at the water park.
A few of the pictures: Ashton put on his own shoes (backwards of course) and we drove down to the beach to see the see up of the Hawaiian Tropics Pro surf contest being set up.

Happy Halloween!
Kristin, Tom and Riis invited us over to celebrate Halloween with them again this year. Ashton was Buzz Lightyear with matching hot wheels and all! Christian didn't dress up this year, next year for sure.
Ashton, like every kid, loves candy so he had a great time trick or treating at a few houses. He soon learned all he had to do was open his bag and he was given candy. It was quite comical!
Here are some photos...yes that one photos is Ashton licking Red Riding Hood:)

Au'lani Breakfast
On of my birthday wishes was to take Ashton to Aulani for the character breakfast to see Mikey Mouse. We were lucky to get reservations for Sunday since the next opening wouldn't be until December!
The food was ehh, not worth the $$$, but the experience was. Ashton had the opportunity to meet Micky, Minny and Goofy. We meet Mikey during the entrance to be seated and had our photo taken with him. Ashton didn't really care too much for Goofy. But Minny, oh Ashton loved Minny! Minny had picked Ashton out of the crowd during one of parades! Ashton didn't know what to think, but when Minny came around to the table to do photos, he leaned in for a kiss and an extra hug!!! So cute!!
After breakfast, we went for a walk around the property. Very nice! I would have liked to take the official tour of all the neat features but we didn't have time. We were on Christian time....thus he needs to eat every hour.
Thanks Mom-Mom for giving Ashton an experience he won't forget!

Pumpkin Patch
This was our first time checking out the pumpkin patch. Ashton had a great time in the bouncy house, on the hay ride, petting area, picking out his own pumplin and of course eating some watermellon.
Since we didn't get to go last week as originally planned with Kristin, Tom and Riis, we didnt' have to worry with picking out pumpkins! Thanks again Kristin...they brought us a mommy, daddy, Ashton and Christian pumpkin last weekend.
Check out Ashton having fun!

Happy Birthday, Mommy!
What a great birthday I had. First, my mom, Adam & Christian let me sleep in cuddled next to Ashton until 7:30 am! After a slow start we went to Anna Millers for breakfast. After breakfast, we went to Pearlridge mall so that Ashton and Christian could pick out new Pandora charms for my bracket. Ashton picked out the fish thus left the turtle to Christian....not that he had much choice.
After a fun time at the mall, we came home and I took a nice afternoon nap. After our nap, we went to Roy's at Ko'olina for dinner. Yummy!
I had a great birthday spending time with my family! It was extra special this year since my mom was able to be here to celebrate it with us. I loved the special touches like my mom making my favorite chocolate cake, the adorable card from Ashton and the balloon that was missing the helium and the flower pot that Ashton picked out just for me! Christian gave me his signature flowers (tuberose) and a funny balloon. Adam's so ever sweet card that made me shed a tear and the yummy cookies. I am truly blessed and I thank God for allowing me to see another year.

This was not the easiest photo session. Christian is such a well behaved baby, but for some reason did not want to corporate during his first photo shot. Dosen't he know that his mommy loves, loves photos?! The ones we did get turned out great. Thank you Simply Blissful Photography for being so patient!

Happy 1 Month Christian!
The second child grows even faster!! I can't believe that Christian has been here for a month already. He is such a great baby and everyone just loves him to pieces!
Here are some fun facts:
~He is now sleeping a long stretch of 5 hours (9:00 pm - 2:00 am)
`Likes to wake and 'talk' from about 3:00 am until about 4:30 am. We really need to work on this, Christian!
~Looks like he will have long eyelashes like his brother. His eyes are less swollen.
~He is gaining weight so fast! He loves to eat his mama's milk!
~He has tons of gas and makes the funnest grunting noises
~He does not spit up (neither did Ashton)
~He has grown out of his newborn clothing and is now wearing 0-3
~His hair is light brown still and his eyes are a beautiful blue with a lighter ring around the pupil.
~He is laid back and likes to hang in his swing but is starting to prefer to be held lately.
~He doesn't mind being in his Baby K'tan carrier.
~He loves his big brother!!
~He will tolerate tummy time, but doesn't love it.
~Hates his car seat...screams the entire time he is in it
Check out some photos from the past month

Christian's 2 week well baby
Christian had his two week well baby check-up on Monday(technically he was 18 days) and everything looks great. It seems that things were much more serious during delivery/birth that I had originally thought, but all in all, everything seems to be okay with Christian. The doctor is not too worried about any long term effects since Christian's apgar scores increased after the 10 minute mark. The score was 4 at birth, then 7 then 8 after 10 minutes.
Here are Christian's stats:
Weight:
Birth Weight: 7 lbs 15.9 oz
2 days: 7 lbs 9.4 oz (43.55%)
18 days: 9 lbs 1.9 oz (52.45%)
Height:
Birth Height: 19.69" (50.17%)
2 days: 19.69" (50.17%)
18 days: 22.25" (90.20%)
HC:
Birth HC: 13.19" (13.39%)
2 days: 13.19" (13.39%)
18 days: 14.49" (36.55%)
I can't believe little man is growing an ounce a day! He changes every day and is just the sweetest baby ever! He only cries when he is hungry or just wants to be held. He is bed sharing with us and sleeps much better this way. I love have both my boys on either side of me.
Christian enjoys his swing, looking at faces, playing with Ashton on the play mat and just cruising around on someones shoulder. We are so lucky!

The past 2 weeks
I have never been this happy in my life! I have the most beautiful boys and I can't get enough of them. Chrisitan is such a blessing and I can't thank God enough for allowing him to be happy and healthy and to be mine. Ashton is the best big brother and has fully exceed my expectations of him accepting Chrisitan. Adam is the best dad and husband. He has fully taken to our new routines and is just going with the flow. It is funny how much more comfortable we both feel around Chrisitian. I guess just knowing what to do and how to handle situations makes it easier since we've already gone though all this new baby stuff with Ashton. My mom has been here to help and has been making us tons of yummy food....I'll have to start my diet once she leaves:)
Crunch Time
I found this recipe to make Peanut Butter Cereal Treats. They looked easy enough to have Ashton help me make them. He was too cute..he would rather eat the marshmallows, peanut butter and m&m's instead of help me:)

It's another BOY!!!
Here is the birth story that I quickly typed up. I am sure I've left our many details but for now, here is what I can remember.
Christian Kai was born on Thursday, Sept 29 at 12:03 pm. He was born at 39 weeks.
Long birth story. I was determined to have a vaginal birth this time and it happened:) I couldn't be happier with my decision (given the outcome now).
I had my "bloody show" on Tuesday around 6:00 am, starting having contractions from about 6am until 9 am and then nothing until Wed. morning, again from 3 am till about 6 am. Later on Wed. evening they started to get more intense and they were about 5-7 minutes apart. Adam insisted we go in to L&D, but I was sure they were going to send me home. They did a quick weight, blood pressure check and hooked me up to monitors. I indeed was having contractions that were regular. The midwife came in to check me and I was 6 cm. This was around 10:45 pm Wed evening.
I'm not sure if it's because the midwife told me I was 6 cm or what, but all of a sudden the contractions were way more painful. Since baby was still at a station 0 I bounced on an exercise ball and labored on the toilet (most comfortable) for a few hours. Around 1:40 am, I asked for the epidural and I was 7 cm.
They checked me again around 2:25 am and baby had dropped a little but was still way high. A few hours later at 4:00 am, my midwife checked me again and felt my water bag bulging and was at 10 cm. Baby was still way higher than they wanted him to be and they wanted my bag of water to break on its own….it took forever for it to finally break…at 7:45 am. It was a gush like you see/hear about on tv.
Since baby was not descending, my midwife asked if I wouldn’t mind turning off the epidural to see if I could get into different positions to get him to settle down lower. I agreed. Since the epi was weaning off, I didn’t feel much pain (maybe around a 4-5 in pain)…I was checked again and it was finally time to push around 10:15 am.
It was an intense time and I wasn’t sure I had made the right decision to try for this vbac, I was in pain and I could feel everything. I had a really hard time getting him down through my pubic bone (took over an hour of pushing just to get him that far) and during this time, my midwife and nurse were coaching me in a calm manner and just reassuring me that I was pushing correctly, etc. They brought the mirror thinking it would help with my pushes, but it actually made it much harder for me to concentrate.
About 15 minutes before he was born, my midwife and nurse became a bit ‘harder’ on me during my pushes telling me that I needed to do better, etc. I was getting upset because I was pushing as hard as I possibly could. I was exhausted (up over 24 hours by then), I was emotional and in pain. I wanted him out just as much as they did. Once I got him over my pubic bone, I was that lady who was screaming (hello, ring of fire) and the relief I felt once he was out was amazing!
Christina Kai was born at 12:03 pm weighing 8 lbs (actually 7 lbs 15.9 oz) and was a hair shy of 20 inches in length. He has a head full of dark hair with a much smaller head that Ashton had (thank goodness)!!! I did have a 2nd degree tear to the muscle.
Christian didn’t come out screaming and was very, very limp. The NICU team was already in the room ready for him. I didn’t understand what was happening and of course the reason my midwife and nurse became so hard on me those last 15 minutes was because my placenta had ruptured. They knew I only had a few minutes to get him out and they knew that there was not enough time for an emergency c-section. Looking back, they kept me so calm and were so professional about it. I didn’t realize that I had a temperature during labor and there was a lot of blood Adam now remembers.
Christian was born with a fever and an infection and was taken to NICU. I did get to hold him for about 3 seconds but be was not crying and was limp. It took for them to ‘fix me’ up and Adam went with Christian while my mom stayed with me. I tried to keep thinking positive thoughts; I started to cry and asked my midwife if this would have happened if I had just went with a c-section. She said probably not, but to not look at it from that view. I felt selfish for wanting the birth that I wanted and not what was best for my baby. Knowing now, that was not the case and there was nothing that could have been done to know that would have happened. I made the right decision and I am happy with it. My midwife came to see me the next morning and again reassured me that I did make the right decision based on my reasons for wanting a vbac.
Around 3:00 pm, I was finally allowed to see Christian in the NICU. I am glad Adam was there since they were going to give him formula. Adam knew that was not what I wanted and he insisted that I be there to nurse him ASAP. Within a few minutes he was latched on and going to town. He is doing a great job latching on and it is all he wants to do Christian did get to come down and stay with me but had to have his antibiotics every 6 hours or so but they were able to do this in the room instead of the NICU. We did have to stay an extra day just to wait on his lab work to be sure the infection had cleared (or something like that). I feel I was left out of many details and am still fuzzy on a few things that I will ask his pedi during our 2 week visit. I hate not knowing the details and they why did this happen.
All in all, Christian is healthy little boy! He is almost back to his birth weight after only 3 days! Wahoo! Ashton is a great big brother. He was not very happy to see some other baby on his boobies though…it was funny. Ashton kept pulling my nipple out of Christian’s mouth! I had to do some explaining while trying not to laugh.
I feel much, much better than I did with my c-section and I thought my c-section was pretty textbook. I am up and moving much easier than I thought. Don’t get me wrong, I am sore but it gets much better each day.

Beach Days!
On Thursday, we headed to the Disney's Aulani grand opening show. Ashton got to see Mickey and Minne, some fireworks, light show (I've heard the lights they have can be seen in for miles) and of course some hula dancers.
Friday after work, we headed down to Ko'Olina once again for a swim. Ashton was lucky to meet up with his friend, Cade, for a swim. Ashton was also lucky enough to check out a real outrigger canoe. We read about the canoe's almost every night but this was the first time he got to see one up close. After the swim, we went to Taco's & More for dinner. Ashton enjoyed some rice....most of it ended up on the floor! Good times!
In case you didn't notice, Ashton is starting to pose. I'm not quite sure where he learned this nor the ear to shoulder pose he is doing in two of these photos. I do remember me having this same pose as a child. Funny!
P.S. I am 38 weeks and 1 day pregnant with Baby #2 and just starting to swell:(

Family/Maternity Session
What a wet photo session with Frank, our engagement/wedding photographer!!! We were good sports about it and I have to say I am happy the way they turned out. Yeah, we all look nicer when our hair is dry but hey...we had fun and that is all that matters!!
These are just a few of the 900 or so that were taken that day (these were all chosen by Frank).

Go Warriors!
We had great seats to the opening game of the University of Hawaii vs Colorado University game. The Warriors beat the Buffalo's 34 to 17. Prior to the game, we meet our gang of friends at Dixie Grill for some drinks (not mommy or Ashton) and food. It was fun for Ashton since they had a sand box for the kids to play in while the parents eat! Perfect!!
Ashton did a great job sitting in the stands for over 3 hours without a nap all day! I thought for sure we would have one grumpy kid, but he was amazing!!
